Herkimer Diamond Voyage Necklace

The Voyage necklace is comprised of a stunning strand of Herkimer Diamonds strung on contrasting coral silk thread and fastened with a handcrafted sterling silver hook clasp. The clasp is reminiscent of a sailors knot; inspired by my long time fascination with sailors knots, ports, and sailing vessels from Long Island.
Herkimer Diamonds are fascinating gemstones hailing from Herkimer, New York and growing deep within the earth over 500 million years ago. Herkimer Diamonds are in fact not diamonds at all but double terminated crystal quartz. The transparency of the quartz allows us to peek into these ancient treasures and wonder at their black spotty inclusions. These inclusions are what make this strand exceptionally interesting.
