Opal Peek-A-Boo Hoop Earrings with Spike Charms

Opal Peek-A-Boo Hoop Earrings with Spike Charms

$1,300.00Price

Mejia Jewelry's signature peek-a-boo hoop earrings get an edgier look with spike charms.  Concentric handcrafted circles hang elegantly from the hoop.  No two circles are the same; that's the beauty of handcrafted.

Wear the earrings two ways: just the hoop, or with the spike charms.

Custom cut Ethiopian Opal cabochons shine brightly displaying a kaleiedscope of color.  Opals display a phenomenon known as "Play of color" where light reflects off of tiny spheres within the opal and bounces back as a party of color and light. The opals sit right below the ear lobe, making these hoops unique and a signature design of Mejia Jewelry.

  • About the Gemstone

    • These Ethiopian Opals were custom cut especially for this design from larger opal cabochons to give the stone a strong saturation and play of color. The height of the bullet cabochon maintains the intense play of color found in larger opals.
    • Opals display a phenomenon known as "Play of color" where light reflects off tiny spheres within the opal and bounce back as a party of color and light.
    • Mohs scale hardness of 5. When storing opals, please be sure they do not bang against any other stone or jewelry to avoid scratches. Do not store opals in tight bags or safes for an extended period where they can dry out.  Opals can display "crazing" a type of cracking of the gemstone if they are too dry.
    • The birthstone for October and the gemstone used to celebrate the 14th wedding anniversary.
    • Believed to give energy as you move the opal to the light and see its flashes of color. Its magical significance can be found when you rotate the opal, so it flashes as you recite an empowerment, and keep doing so until you feel the power!
