In Ancient Greek mythology, Selene the moon goddess was crowned
with a crescent moon. Her name comes from selas, meaning light and brightness. Of all the moon’s phases, the waning crescent is my favorite: a quiet, gleaming sliver in the dark sky. This final lunar phase symbolizes surrender, rest, and healing a moment to pause before a new beginning.
