Vesuvio Lava Triangle Necklace
As seen in JCK magazine, the texture on this necklace is my interpration of lava's slow movement of destruction ultimately leading to the preservation of what it has destroyed. I have always been fascinated with volcanoes and the way lava moves. The ancient ruins of Pompeii are a source of inspiration. I'm in awe of the preserved remnants of bodies and art preserved in the volcanic ash from Mt. Vesuvius's eruption 2000 years ago.
Each triangle element moves independently of each other through an invisible connection on the back. Thus making the collier completely flexible, comfortable, and ergonomic to the neck. The asymmetrical triangle shape gives the piece lightness and a modern heirloom quality. Oxidation is added to highlight the texture. This is truly one of our favorite Mejia Jewelry pieces.
